Our History
In the spring of 1997, a vision
was birthed in a handful of people in our community... a vision of a
setting where the hurting, the depressed,
the frustrated, and the
confused could find love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness,
guidance, and encouragement; a vision of equipping
Christians to
make a significant impact in the lives of others by helping them
discover the gifts and talents God had given them.
We were convinced that
this was what the church could be, and we dared
to become the church God had in mind. |

So with a clear vision, a stated purpose, and a handful
of dedicated families,
Faith Community Fellowship was born.

We held our first Sunday Celebration
service on June 15, 1997 at the Holiday Inn. In September of 97, we began to meet in
homes during
the week. It has been in those mid-week gatherings (called Community Groups)
that we have formed intimate, authentic relationships.
In April of 1998 we moved our Celebration
service to the Ellsworth Middle School, and then in January of 1999, to the Down East Family
Y.M.C.A.
For over seven years, in the course of
conversation, as we talked about our church, the first question we
were asked is, ‘Where’s your
church?’ From the day the vision
of Faith Community Fellowship was born in the hearts of our
leadership, this had been one of the aspects
of our church that made
us unique in our community – and it also required some explanation. |

For seven
years, the pastors, elders, and members had countless discussions
about our physical location. Our relationship with the YMCA
was a real blessing to us. They were extremely accommodating, and
they provided us with what seemed like a permanent home for six
years. But in the summer of 2004, we found
ourselves at a place where a permanent facility would better feed
our overall vision – it was the
next logical step. We identified
some ‘growth-restrictors’ that we felt could be removed with a
facility of our own.
So in the fall of
2004, FCF purchased an abandoned roller skating rink on five acres
of land on the highly-traveled Bar Harbor Road at the
Ellsworth /
Trenton line. Since the roller skating days, the building had
served several functions, most recently as a warehouse. From
November of 2004 through the spring of 2005, a team of dedicated
volunteers worked day and night to complete an unbelievable
transformation. On May 1, 2005, FCF met for Sunday
Celebation for the first time in our own facility.

We have been incredibly blessed over these past ten years. Weve developed ministries to children, teens, women, and men. Weve been
involved in serving our community on several occasions. Our membership and leadership base
has developed and expanded. And we believe
we have positioned ourselves for a bright,
healthy future. |
