Community Groups

Meeting times & locations

Believing that life change happens best in small groups, Faith Community is built around our small groups, called “Community Groups,” that meet regularly in homes.  It is our goal to assimilate everyone into one of these small groups.  This is where relationships are formed and nurtured, where we can be ourselves, express our concerns, and receive encouragement and affirmation... it is in the small group that we experience real community!

A Community Group is simply a group of 8-12 people who come together two, three, or four times a month, for fellowship, a Bible-centered lesson, and prayer.   After a minimum of a year and a maximum of three years, the group divides and forms another group.  The group is autonomous; for the most part they study what they want to study (with the exception being an occasional church-wide focus on a particular theme), they meet when they want to meet, and they meet where they want to meet.  Community Groups for the most part are geographically oriented settings, and meet 2-4 times a month.  Each group has a host or a hostess.  Each group has a leader and at least one apprentice.  And the group basically functions on its own.

Each Community Group leader is accountable to a Coach.  And each Coach is responsible for no more than five Group Servants. And the Coaches are accountable to a pastor.

Community Groups are central to the vision of our church, because:

  1. Community Groups are the next logical step in the Invest-and-Invite strategy.  We believe the most effective and most biblical method of evangelism is to invest in the life of a non-believer, and then when you’re fully invested, invite them to the right environment.  In Community Groups, you get to be involved in the discipleship process with them as you invite them into your group.

  2. Community Groups provide a setting that allows every person’s spiritual gift an opportunity to be expressed.

  3. Community Groups provide the optimal environment for accountability and care.

  4. Community Groups provide the optimal environment for interacting with Scripture.

  5. Community Groups provide the optimal environment for multiplication.

Getting involved:

Option #1:  We provide a listing of all the Groups, with their locations, and the names
of the host and hostess, and the Group Servant’s name, and the apprentice’s name.
Call the Group Leader to inquire about their group.

Option #2:  Call one of the coaches, and talk with them about the groups and their different personalities and emphases, and work together to find a group that works
best for you.
